Ever-popular grocery chain H-E-B continues to expand in the Dallas-Fort Worth area \u2014 now preparing to build a second location in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

Mabrie Jackson, managing director of public affairs for San Antonio-based H-E-B LP, confirmed the company plans to start construction around the holiday season on a second location in the city, in the Walsh Ranch<\/a> area.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to sharing more details at a groundbreaking event later this fall,” Jackson wrote in an email.<\/p>\n

The store will be at FM 3325 and the I-20 service road in what’s known as Walsh Ranch, near the border between Fort Worth and Aledo, according to a July 8 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Located in Parker County, Walsh is a 7,500-acre master-planned community that will have neighborhoods, commercial development, community amenities and parks.<\/p>\n

According to the filing, construction could start Oct. 20<\/a> and wrap up in December 2026. The estimated cost of construction for the\u00a0127,754-square-foot store is listed as $18 million. RSP Architects is listed as the design firm on the project.<\/p>\n

Information in TDLR filings is often preliminary and subject to change but the filings can provide early details about construction plans.<\/p>\n

H-E-B operates more than 440 stores across the U.S. and Mexico. The grocer opened its first Tarrant County store in far north<\/a> Fort Worth last April, as part of its steady expansion<\/a> across the Metroplex since 2022.<\/p>\n

In March, H-E-B announced a new location in Denton<\/a>, north of Fort Worth, in a 20-acre site at the northwest corner of I-35 West and Robson Ranch Road. That property will be part of a commercial space in the master-planned community known as Landmark, planned by Dallas-based real estate firm Hillwood. That community will include 6,000 homes, 5 million square feet of commercial and mixed-use space and 3,000 multifamily units along five miles of I-35 West.<\/p>\n

At full buildout, Walsh Ranch is expected to be home to more than 15,000 families and a population of nearly 50,000 residents, according to Walsh’s website. Homes start in the $400,000 range and go up to the millions. The University of Texas<\/a> at Arlington is planning a new campus<\/a> in Walsh across 51 acres. Worthington Bank\u00a0also announced an eight-story tower<\/a> and headquarters at the corner of I-30 and Walsh Ranch Parkway.<\/p>\n
